FIFTY FIFTY The 1st EP [THE FIFTY]

FIFTY FIFTY (Fifty Fifty) is a girl group consisting of four girls, exploring a world view that moves between the real world full of difficulties and complicated quests and the hopeful ideal world of love and friendship. Saena, Aran, Keena, and Sio draw their own journey through various musical colors and depths based on autobiographical stories that reflect the lives they actually live.

There are always times in life when you stand at a crossroads of choice. The number of two cases that appear at this time, two worlds that coexist. We call this a 50/50 future and the world they will walk through. Amidst this, Fifty Fifty walks step by step with both anxiety and anticipation for the many paths of life that will unfold in the future.

Fifty Fifty means two different things that seem the same. Negative meanings can also have positive meanings, it can be somebody rather than anybody, and suffering can soon become an experience. Based on Fifty Fifty's world view theory, the four girls overcome obstacles with a positive mind despite difficulties full of pain and trials, and move forward to a bright and hopeful world.

Facing 50 and 50 are two opposing sides, a medium that coexists for each other, and a world that can only be completed by relying on and circulating. In other words, because there are two cases, we can grow and develop for a better future.

Fifty Fifty's real world and ideal world are parallel universes, and there are three different worlds: the present, the future, and the past. The girls go on a journey to various places, transcending time and space, following an unknown mysterious being. Sometimes they go back to the happiest past and spend a time full of excitement, recalling the ecstatic memories they want to keep forever, while others experience confusion in a dark and gloomy space, and plan an escape to escape the harsh environment and yearn for freedom.

In Fifty Fifty's first debut album, [THE FIFTY], the following four songs contain the first journey of girls who yearn for freedom beyond the chaos of reality and eventually move on to a utopia.

1. Tell Me

I don't know why, but a strange attraction that I can't take my eyes off... Today, I have a new feeling, and I pay more attention to things I am not interested in. A day where you want to be a little bolder, but also feel anxious, curious and thrilled. This song tells the story of girls who set out to find a thrilling feeling and a strange but pleasant trembling feeling.
The funky guitar riff and bassline harmonize with the rhythmic beat, and Aran's dreamy vocals and Kina's bouncy rap add a retro city pop vibe to the song. Adam Kapit and Hautboi Rich, who participated in the production of this song, have a history of participating in many major K-pop groups such as Shinee, EXO, NCT, and Aespa.

2. Lovin' Me

A prejudiced gaze and incomprehensible criticism isolates the girls. I try to fit myself into the puzzle of others' expectations, but the more I do, the more confused I feel as if I get further away from the world. Then, at some point, the girl dimly discovers the free self inside. As soon as he escapes from the confined space and starts flapping his wings toward freedom, the growing pains disappear like a lie. The girl who realizes that she is a precious being by herself, grows further from her past self and begins to step out into the world. It delivers a message of comfort, empathy, and support to those living together in times like this.
Shio's plain and elegant vocals blend with the lyrical lyrics to add depth to the music. The hopeful melody and pad sound that flows quietly in the introduction create a cinematic atmosphere, and Sana's background vocals that come in later enhance the song more dramatically. In the chorus, energetic synths, heavy bass, and intense beats come together to decorate the highlights as if repressing suppressed emotions.

3. Higher (Title)

“Sweet life, live for the good times” is a song that sings about the world of ecstasy and dreams that seem to fly higher. Four girls talk about friendship, love, and memories they want to keep forever. Reminiscent of girls running around happily in an unrealistic and beautiful space like utopia, this song has an R&B pop-style melodious guitar riff as the main, minimal beat and retro strings to stimulate nostalgia for the fantasy space. The melody of the catchy and lovely chorus part adds freshness through the lyrics and rap part with a sweet message that matches it. Arcades, who participated in the production of this song, has experience collaborating with many major K-pop artists such as Shinee, BTS, Tomorrow x Together, Enhypen, and Red Triangle, who participated as co-producers, such as David Guetta, Charlie Puth, Sam Ryder, The history of participating in albums by global artists stands out.

4. Log in

Expressing the movement of rebel girls who want to escape from the suffocating real world with strong performances, this song contains the story of 'log-out' from the controlled self and 'log-in' to a new self in harmony. The introductory sound, which seems to be sucked into cyberspace, announces the beginning of escape with the cry of 'get up' and advances by chanting the incantation 'click, click, login'.
Based on EDM, this song uses grand pad sounds and experimental electronic synths to create a dark atmosphere. The strong bass and punchy beat further heighten the aggressiveness of the song, and the strong chants and rap parts of the members throughout the song show their strong will to push forward without bending their intentions. I wondered if it would end confidently with a successful escape, but with the voices of the girls who seemed possessed by something and mysterious sounds, they fell into a deeper labyrinth and decorated the ominous outro.

FIFTY FIFTY(피프티 피프티)는 4명의 소녀로 구성된 걸그룹으로, 여러 난관과 복잡한 퀘스트가 난무하는 현실 세계와 사랑과 우정이 있는 희망 가득한 이상 세계 사이를 오가는 세계관을 탐험한다. 새나(Saena), 아란(Aran), 키나(Keena), 시오(Sio)는 실제 그들이 살아가는 삶을 반영한 자전적인 이야기를 기반으로 다양한 음악적 색깔과 깊이를 통해 자신만의 여정을 그려낸다.

언제나 인생에는 선택의 갈림길에 서게 될 때가 있다. 이때 나타나는 두 가지의 경우의 수, 공존하는 두 가지의 세계. 우리는 이것을 각각 50대 50의 미래를 의미하며 이들이 걸어 나갈 세계라고 한다. 이 속에서 피프티 피프티는 향후 펼쳐질 인생의 수많은 길에 대한 불안감과 기대감을 동시에 내포한 채 한 걸음씩 걸어 나아간다.

피프티 피프티는 같은 듯 다른 두 가지를 뜻한다. 부정적인 의미도 긍정적인 의미가 될 수 있고, anybody가 아닌 somebody가 될 수도 있으며, 고생이 곧 경험이 될 수도 있다는 것이다. 이러한 피프티 피프티의 세계관 이론을 토대로 4명의 소녀는 고통과 시련이 가득한 어려움 속에서도 긍정적인 마음을 통해 장애물을 헤쳐 나가며 밝고 희망 가득한 세계로 나아간다.

마주하고 있는 50과 50은 대립하고 있는 두 측면이자 서로를 위해 공존하는 매개체이며 의지하고 순환해야 완성되는 세계이기도 하다. 즉 두 가지 경우의 수가 있기에 우리는 더 나은 미래를 위해 성장하고 발전할 수 있게 된다.

피프티 피프티의 현실 세계와 이상 세계는 평행우주 관계이며 현재, 미래 그리고 과거 3개의 서로 다른 세계들이 존재한다. 소녀들은 정체 모를 신비한 존재를 따라 시공간을 초월하며 다양한 곳으로 여정을 떠나게 된다. 때로는 가장 행복했던 과거로 돌아가 설렘 가득한 시간을 보내기도 하고, 영원히 간직하고 싶은 황홀한 추억을 회상하는 반면, 어둡고 우울한 공간에서 혼란을 겪기도 하며 험난한 환경을 탈피하고자 탈출을 계획하며 자유를 갈망하기도 한다.

피프티 피프티의 첫 데뷔 앨범 [THE FIFTY]에서는 현실 속 혼란을 넘어 자유를 갈망하고 끝내 이상향으로 나아가는 소녀들의 첫 여정을 다음 4곡에 고스란히 담았다.

1. Tell Me

이유는 알 수 없지만, 눈을 뗄 수 없는 묘한 이끌림… 오늘따라 새로운 느낌이 들고, 평소 관심 없던 것에 더 눈길이 간다. 조금 더 과감해지고 싶으면서도 불안하고, 호기심과 설렘이 공존하는 하루. 이 곡은 두근거리는 느낌, 그리고 낯설지만 기분 좋은 떨림을 찾아 나서는 소녀들의 이야기를 담고 있다.
펑키한 기타 리프와 베이스라인이 리드미컬한 비트가 함께 어우러져 조화를 이루고, 아란의 몽환적인 보컬과 키나의 톡톡 튀는 랩이 더해져 레트로한 시티팝 풍의 무드를 세련되게 뿜어낸다. 이 곡의 프로듀싱에 참여한 Adam Kapit과 Hautboi Rich는 Shinee, EXO, NCT, Aespa, 등 굵직한 케이팝 그룹들의 음악에 다수 참여한 이력이 있다.

2. Lovin' Me

편견 가득한 시선, 이해하기 어려운 비난은 소녀들을 고립시킨다. 타인의 기대라는 퍼즐에 본인을 맞춰보지만 그럴수록 세상과 멀어지는 것처럼 혼란스럽기만 하다. 그러던 어느 순간, 소녀는 내면 속 자유로운 자아를 어렴풋이 발견한다. 속박된 공간에서 벗어나 자유를 향한 날갯짓을 시작하자 성장통은 거짓말처럼 사라진다. 자기 자신 그 자체로 소중한 존재라는 것을 깨닫게 된 소녀는 과거의 자신에서 한층 더 성장하며 세상 밖을 향해 발돋움을 시작한다. 이와 같은 시기를 함께 살아가는 이들에게 위로와 공감, 응원의 메시지를 전달한다.
시오의 담백하고 청아한 보컬은 서정적인 가사와 어우러져 음악에 깊이를 더한다. 도입부에 잠잠하게 흘러나오는 희망적인 멜로디와 패드 사운드는 시네마틱한 분위기를 자아내며, 이후 들어오는 새나의 백그라운드 보컬이 곡을 더욱 드라마틱하게 고조시킨다. 코러스에는 에너지 넘치는 신스와 묵직한 베이스, 그리고 강렬한 비트가 하나 되어 억압된 감정을 시원하게 풀어내듯 하이라이트를 장식한다.

숨 막히는 현실 세계에서 벗어나고자 반항하는 소녀들의 움직임을 강렬한 퍼포먼스로 표현해낸 이 곡은 다 같이 의기투합하여 통제된 자아로부터 '로그아웃'하고 새로운 자아에 '로그인'하는 이야기를 담고 있다. 사이버 공간으로 빨려 들어가는 것 같은 도입부의 사운드는 'get up'란 외침과 함께 탈출의 시작을 알리며 'click, click, login'이란 주문을 외우며 전진해 나간다.
